"An unexpected error occurred: An error occurred in the SelfID format."

Solution

Historically, one of the following solutions has fixed this SelfID format error. Typically this error seems to be caused by a bad FireWire card/cable.

  1. Try shutting down the PC, unplugging the power cable from the PC (make sure it really is off), and booting the PC back up.
  2. Check the FireWire card. Try replacing the FireWire card and/or swapping the PCI/PCIe card slot.
  3. Replace the FireWire cable and/or swap FireWire ports on the FireWire card or A3200 drive.
  4. Check any anti-virus or firewall software. Disable these and do a quick reinstall of the A3200 software. Set up the FireWire card and see if it can connect.
