Communication problems between the PC and the Ensemble/Soloist controller can occur after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and installing the latest Windows updates for Windows 10.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Check if the controller is mapped in the Connection Settings of the Configuration Manager, if not place a checkmark in the box and push the button "Apply" and "OK".
  2. Check if you can connect to the controller via the Configuration Manager and Motion Composer.
  3. Check the Windows Firewall, often the application of Ensemble/Soloist and LabVIEW will be blocked from the Windows Firewall. Allow all communication from Ensemble/Soloist and LabVIEW through the Windows Firewall. Check the Outbounds and Inbounds rules through the Windows Firewall, sometimes one side is only blocked.
  4. Restart the PC

Windows 10 Updates can influence the Ethernet drivers on the PC. Therefore if you have one of the following Windows Update KB4538401, KB4524570 or KB4523205 the communication to the controller can be blocked. You need to delete these Windows Updates, it exists no other workaround for this problem.
