A Static ethernet configuration requires that both the Ensemble/Soloist controller and the computer's NIC (Network Interface Card) be on the same Subnet Mask with different, but compatible, IP addresses.

This document is not intended to teach the user about how IP address structures and Subnet Masks function. This only serves as an example of how to configure a static IP address for the Ensemble or Soloist controller.

Step-by-step example

  1. In your Network Connections window, under the Network and Sharing Center, right-click your LAN network and select Properties
  2. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties
  3. Setup your IP address for your LAN network
    1. 192.168.xxx.xxx is a typical private IP address and the numbers listed in the below image should also work as an example
      1. Ex: 192.168.1.100
    2. Set the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0
  4. In your Ensemble/Soloist Connection Settings in the Configuration Manager application, input your IP Address and Subnet mask.
    1. If you entered a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0 then the first 3 values for your controller's IP address must be the same as your NIC's IP address. The last number must be different
    2. Ex: 192.168.1.2
  5. Map the controller by selecting the checkbox next to the controller's name.
  6. Click Apply > OK.
